Life itself is interpreted, reinvented and synthesized through visual expression. Art is the force in my life that engages me with the world and inexplicably draws me inward.
My work focuses on the beauty of humanity. The subtlety of human character, the depths of the human experience, and perception. While my subjects take shape in many forms, it is these inherently meaningful aspects of life that represent the spirit of my what drives me to create.
While my outward experience is what influences my work, the conceptualism of composition and concept is intrinsically an inward process. The balance of color, form, space and movement are integral elements of my work. These are also the fundamentally challenging and simultaneously rewarding aspects of composition.
Painting gives me the freedom to work observationally and expressively. The extension of the brush as a tool, creates a sense of detachment. This lack of control is juxtaposed by my inherent desire to work realistically. This is the balancing force of my artistic expression. The fluid intuition of the artist and brush, the conscience and sub-conscience spirit of expression.
